Cal Electro, Inc.

The seventh capability is the reason the other six hold schedule.

The critical path is our own crews

The difference

On a typical Cal Electro contract the drilling, the civil, the mechanical and the piping are self-performed alongside the electrical.

For an owner or a general contractor, that is schedule certainty. Fewer tiers to chase, fewer coordination seams on the critical path, and one company answering for the scope it carries. When the foundation crew and the termination crew share a foreman, the schedule holds.

Self-performed scope

What stays in-house on a Cal Electro contract.

DisciplineWhat it covers
ElectricalMedium and high voltage, controls, terminations and testing of what we install
CivilFoundations, trenching, duct bank, site development, structures
MechanicalGenerator sets, fuel systems, cranes, pumps and plant equipment
PipingFuel, water and process piping alongside the electrical scope
DrillingFoundation and utility drilling with our own equipment

On energized substation work the same applies inside the yard: the crews working adjacent to live equipment are Cal Electro crews under one safety program, EMR 0.80. A specialty trade outside these five is subcontracted and managed by Cal Electro.

What that looks like

Three jobs where the whole scope was one contract.

For GCs

One sub can carry the electrical, civil and mechanical scope together. Send the plans.
